Best Stainless Steel Cookware: what to look for
By Kenny Sung
Anyone who loves cooking would consider cooking as a recreation instead of routine. Cooking is certainly fun if you have the necessary cooking ware in the kitchen to support your cooking activities. In spite of the fact that cooking wares are now coated with Teflon, the steel cookware is not replaceable at some respects. In fact, stainless steel cookware is even more useful than the Teflon coated cookware when it comes to long term use. Stainless steel cooking wares do not have the scratch problems. You do not need to use wooden or bamboo spatula so as not to scratch the surface because the stainless steel cookware’s functionality will not change even if it is scratched during the cooking process. In addition, there is no rule in cleaning such as only use the soft sponge part, not the scouring pad, to avoid scratches during the cleaning. With stainless steel cookware, anything will do for the cleaning as long as you soak the dirty cookware in hot water first. Although choosing stainless steel cookware depends very much on your need, there is a couple of common factors to consider as the Best Stainless Steel Cookware. First thing to look at is the materials that make up the cooking ware. If the cookware looks flashy, it means that it is mostly made up of nickel, and it is good. High content of nickel ensures long lasting use, in other words it is durable. The content of the cookware also determines the heat distribution during the cooking process. Since stainless steel cookware does not conduct heat so well, manufacturers apply aluminum or copper layer to the base of the stainless steel fry pans and other pans so that the pans can conduct heat better. Information on the materials can always be asked to the sales persons since they are trained to be knowledgeable about the products that they offer. If you want to cook vegetables quickly in good heat, use the pans with copper content since copper helps heat the pans quickly and cool down quickly, too. If you like cooking soup or sauce which requires steady heat, then the stainless steel cookware containing aluminum is perfect for your need. Aluminum controls and retains heat longer and it takes quite long to cool down, too. These insights on the metal addition help prevent using the wrong cookware for certain purpose which results in disappointment. The next thing to look at is its handles. Make sure that the handles are sturdy and stable at the hold. It is a good idea, too, to make sure if the handles are resistant to heat to prevent you from injury. Sturdiness of the handles is not to be underestimated since you are going to use stainless cookware for a long period of time. Make sure that you do not lose the handles as this will make the stainless steel cookware dangerous to use while its body can still be used. All in all, it is the metal mixture that determines the Best Stainless Steel Cookware to ensure the best results. |

I fully agree that stainless steel cookware is the best way to go. When I got my first set of cookware, I chose stainless steel. The stuff still looks like new and continues to perform well. Perhaps the only thing I would change is that now knowing how long this stuff lasts, I might have gotten an even better set. There's no point saving a few bucks up front, when you could get even higher quality for litterally pennies / year!
My wife still uses her stainless steel Revere ware.
